white flaky skin

We have a tamworth sow who had her first litter a while back , but during the pregnancy her skin went white and flakey and she went mad with itch scratching against the walls till nearly all her hair fell out she looks rough now, we have treated her for mange and although the scratching has stopped she still looks bad, our vet thinks it might be a lack of vitamin A or zinc as mange is usually passed onto other animals and none of our other pigs have it even though they were running with her, no other new animals were brought onto the farm during this time so if it was mange it wasnt introduced from another animal, well not a farm one anyway, has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi.  It sounds as if she did have mange as the scratching has stopped since treatment.  If she was running outside, could she have got sunburnt?  That would result in rough flaky skin.  Some pigs lose their hair more than others in the summer. The hair should grow back eventually.  If the pigs are fed with a proprietary pig food, there shouldn't be any trace element deficiency.
Hope this is helpful
